FENDER USA Custom Shop Contemporary Stratocaster "Cherry Burst + Rosewood" (1995
Up for sale is this rare Fender Custom Shop Contemporary Stratocaster. This specific design belongs to the well known John Suhr. He follows a very similar design on his Standard-Pro line guitars. It is extremely rare and a interesting specimen that features a unique designed alder body with a gorgeous flame maple top, birds eye maple neck and rosewood fret board. In addition, we have a Rare Floyd Rose/Fender locking tremolo, Roller nut and Schaller locking tuners. The pick-ups sound great, in the bridge we have a Seymour Duncan JB and Texas Special middle and neck pickups. All original and touched with the paperwork, I had another one of these back in 2014 and they both have a unique playing experiance compared to a standard strat - as you would expect being designed by John Suhr.
As an overview the overall tone is of a hot ‘Strat’ that will tend to suit the rock player and the modern ‘fusion’ based player, and maybe less so the SRV based blues player who wants something more traditional. But it is not a party animal, that is all balls and no brain, as it offers excellent tonal qualities with overdriven amp settings. The neck is comfortable and very familiar to most players. The action is low, the frets are full and the neck is straight. Condition wise, then you’ll find a few very slight surface scratches to the rear of the body, Nothing nasty that shows the wood just the clearcoat. Glance at the top finish and you might find the odd plectrum swirl but this is barely noticeable so look carefully to find them. no fret-ware also.
