This is a very cool and slightly unusual G&L, essentially their take on an Esquire but done with the Fullerton custom-shop style attention to detail. The Solamente format keeps things simple with a single bridge MFD pickup, but that is a big part of the appeal. G&L’s MFD bridge pickups have loads of output, punch and clarity, so these guitars tend to sound far bigger and more aggressive than a stripped-back single-pickup setup might suggest. From what you have said, this one clearly has that in spades if it rings like a bell unplugged. I also really like the spec here visually. The Turquoise Metal Flake finish gives it loads of personality, while the chunky flame maple neck sounds like a real highlight and should add even more to the feel of the guitar. At 8lb 10oz it is not especially light, but that extra weight often goes hand in hand with the sort of resonance and authority people end up loving on a good single-cut bolt-on. A very cool USA G&L and a great choice for someone who wants Tele-style simplicity with a bit more attitude. The broader ASAT platform specs like the 25.5" scale, bolt-on construction, bone nut, medium-jumbo frets, and boxed-steel bridge with brass saddles are consistent with G&L’s USA ASAT family specs, while a documented 2015 Solamente listing supports the one-pickup Esquire-style concept and custom-order nature of this finish.
