Here's a 2007 Gibson Les Paul Custom Shop Joe Bonamassa Aged Goldtop Limited Edition w/case . Guitar has been fully inspected and adjusted by our luthier. This is # 176 out of only 250 aged made by the Gibson Custom Shop. Very rare and highly sought after guitar.

This guitar blends several cool concepts that have popped up on LP's over the years. We have the classic Goldtop Finish, most commonly associated with the 1957 LP, though introduced in 1952 on the earliest LP's. We have a Black back to get the Gold to really pop. The back of the neck is painted black as well. Grover tuning pegs are factory installed. The Plastic Parts are all black to up the contrast even further. On the bridge, we have 3 Steel Saddles and 3 Nylon on the plain strings. The strings are wrapped over the tail piece as Joe specified for this model. Not only is this a visually striking instrument, it plays like a dream. The chunky neck feels like a Chunky 59' profile. Big n' Chunky and certainly helping the resonance and sustain this instrument is capable of.

Finish perfection isn't an issue because this is a fairly heavily distressed guitar, straight from the factory. The lacquer checking is evocative if a little uniform, while all the dings and scratches are the result of genuine physical abuse from various inanimate objects, lobbed unceremoniously guitar-wards. The gold - some of which is worn away like old ones do - has something of the vintage bronze hue that's generally considered more desirable than brighter, more yellowy gold, and while the whole thing has roadworn vibe in spades, anybody who's seen the real deal will mistake it for a genuine '57.

Interestingly, Joe has chosen three steel saddles for the bottom strings, and nylon saddles - introduced on Gibson electrics in 1961 and discontinued in 1966 - for the top three. He says this smoothes the tone of plain strings.Pickups comprise a pair of Gibson Burstbuckers - a 2 at the neck, and a 3 at the bridge, Gibson's most powerful BB. Burstbuckers are Gibson's modern remake of its original PAF - right down to the 'patent applied for' sticker on the back - and are made with Alnico II magnets and unpotted coils.
