Gibson recently revised the Les Paul Standards and while these improvements were awesome, many players still wanted a Standard with vintage vibe, appointments and feel. That's where the Les Paul Traditional comes in. Vintage looks and feel with made in the USA quality. Just like a 50s Les Paul, the body is mahogany and features a Gold maple top. The body is slightly weight relieved but doesn't have the bigger chambers of the new Standards. The 24.75-inch scale mahogany neck features a bound rosewood fingerboard with pearloid trapezoid inlays. Dual 57 Classic humbuckers dish out big tone. This combo has a great classic rock tone that's close to a traditional PAF. Tuneomatic bridge, Stopbar tailpiece and vintage style tuners keep it rock solid. The finish is classic Goldtop lacquer. An incredible looking and performing guitar.
Les Paul tone means different things to different people, but in my opinion, the best vintage-style examples straddle a fine balance between power and articulation. When you knock the volume back, it needs to clean up; the tone controls need to work throughout their range and so it is with this guitar. The clean tones have a great deal of sweetness. Pile on the gain, and the 57's hold on to it for a classic rock punch; less 'quacky' than a vintage Les Paul, but not as overbearingly thick.
This Les Paul plays and sounds great. The neck feels like it has a 60s profile. The action is good. These come from the factory set up by a PLEK machine. Excellent playability. The 57 Classics deliver a variety of tones. Although, Many players prefer these to Burstbuckers or even more expensive boutique pickups. This is a fairly clean guitar. Collector owned, it has seen little playtime. Just a few minor impressions and some very light age/finish relating checking. Inevitable with a gold-top finish! Comes in original hard-shell case.
The Les Paul Standard Traditional has everything players love about the Les Paul. Killer looks great tone and excellent feel. A great guitar worthy of its namesake. Here's a nice looking and playing one at
