Clean, all-original late ’70s Strats are getting genuinely hard to find — especially ones like this that haven’t been messed with, refinished, or heavily played. This 1979 example is a fantastic snapshot of the era, offering that unmistakable CBS-era Strat feel with surprising clarity and punch.Tonally, it’s bright, open, and articulate, with a slightly firmer low end and crisp top that works brilliantly for funk, classic rock, new wave, and late-’70s / early-’80s tones. The original pickups retain plenty of sparkle and cut, and the guitar responds well to both clean and driven sounds without ever feeling dull or compressed.
The maple neck gives it that snap and immediacy players love, and being so clean for the year, it still feels tight and solid throughout. This is very much a collector-grade vintage Strat that also happens to be an excellent player.
