Consignment Terms & Conditions
At Squealing Pig Guitars, our consignment service allows you to sell your guitar through our established sales channels while benefiting from our marketing, reputation, and global audience of guitar buyers. By submitting a guitar for consignment, you acknowledge and agree to the Terms & Conditions outlined below.
1. Consignment Agreement Requirement
Submitting a consignment form or enquiry does not constitute a binding agreement. A consignment arrangement is only considered final once both parties have reviewed and signed the official Squealing Pig Guitars Consignment Agreement Contract.
This contract will confirm the agreed terms, including:
• Reserve price
• Commission structure
• Sales channels
• Any additional marketing agreements
Until this agreement is signed by both Squealing Pig Guitars and the consignor, no listing, marketing, or sale of the instrument will take place.
2. Sales Channels
Guitars placed on consignment with Squealing Pig Guitars may be marketed and sold through a combination of the following sales channels:
• Our official website - www.squealingpigguitars.com
• eBay
• Reverb
• In-person sales through our Nottingham showroom
Your guitar may be listed across one or multiple platforms simultaneously in order to maximise visibility and achieve the best possible sale price. Customers may also view and purchase the guitar in person at our showroom by appointment. Each online platform has its own selling and payment processing fees. These fees are separate from Squealing Pig Guitars’ commission and will be deducted from the final sale price where applicable. Squealing Pig Guitars reserves the right to determine the most appropriate sales platforms for each instrument.
3. Commission & Fees
Squealing Pig Guitars charges a 10% commission on the final selling price of your guitar unless otherwise agreed in writing.
This commission is separate from any platform or payment processing fees, which will also be deducted where applicable.
Typical additional fees include:
Reverb Sales
Approximately 8.2% total (Reverb selling fee plus PayPal or Stripe processing fees)
eBay Sales
Approximately 11% total (eBay selling fee plus PayPal or Stripe processing fees)
Website Sales
Approximately 2.5% payment processing fee (Stripe or PayPal)
Fees may vary depending on the platform used. We are happy to provide an estimated breakdown before listing your guitar if required.
4. Reserve Price (Net Amount to You)
Before listing your guitar, a Reserve Price must be agreed.
The Reserve Price represents the minimum amount you will receive after all fees have been deducted, including:
• Squealing Pig Guitars commission
• Platform selling fees
• Payment processing fees
Squealing Pig Guitars will not accept any offer that results in a payout below the agreed Reserve Price.
Example:
If your Reserve Price is £2,500, the guitar will only be sold if the final sale price covers all associated fees and still provides you with £2,500 net payout.
While the Reserve Price represents the minimum you will receive, we will always aim to achieve the highest possible price based on current market demand. Once a Reserve Price has been agreed and the guitar is listed, it cannot be altered without mutual agreement.
5. Payout Terms
Payment to the consignor will be made 14 days after the buyer has received the guitar. This waiting period allows time for the buyer’s return window to expire and protects all parties against chargebacks or refund claims. All payments will be made via bank transfer only.
6. Shipping or Delivery to Squealing Pig Guitars
The supplier is responsible for delivering the guitar to Squealing Pig Guitars, either by:
• Shipping the instrument securely
• Delivering it in person to our showroom
If shipping the guitar, you must ensure:
• The guitar is securely packaged
• The parcel is fully tracked
• Adequate insurance is included where possible
Squealing Pig Guitars cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage during transit to us.
7. Liability & Insurance
Once the guitar has arrived and is in the possession of Squealing Pig Guitars, we accept responsibility for the instrument while it remains under our care.
Our insurance covers the guitar against:
• Theft
• Accidental damage
• Loss
In the unlikely event of such an incident, Squealing Pig Guitars will compensate the consignor up to the agreed Reserve Price.
8. Condition & Inspection
All guitars are inspected upon arrival. If any undisclosed issues, faults, or modifications are discovered, this may delay or prevent the listing of the instrument.
Please ensure the guitar:
• Is clean and functional unless otherwise agreed
• Has all modifications clearly declared
• Includes any cases, accessories, or documentation referenced in the listing
Squealing Pig Guitars reserves the right to decline listing an instrument if its condition differs significantly from what was declared.
9. Returns
If a buyer returns the guitar during their eligible return period, no payment will be issued to the consignor until the guitar has been resold. The instrument will then be re-listed and marketed again as part of the consignment agreement.
10. Ownership Confirmation
By submitting a guitar for consignment, you confirm that:
• You are the legal owner of the instrument
• The guitar is not subject to finance or outstanding debt
• The instrument has not been reported stolen
• The item is free from any legal disputes
Squealing Pig Guitars reserves the right to refuse consignment if ownership cannot be clearly verified.
11. Withdrawal of Consigned Instruments
If you wish to withdraw your guitar from consignment, please provide reasonable notice. If the guitar has already been photographed, listed, advertised, or marketed, Squealing Pig Guitars reserves the right to charge a reasonable administrative fee to cover the work undertaken.
12. Circumvention of Sale
By submitting a guitar for consignment, you agree not to sell the instrument privately to any buyer introduced through Squealing Pig Guitars during the consignment period.
This includes any buyer who:
• Contacts you directly after seeing the guitar advertised by Squealing Pig Guitars
• Enquires through our website, marketplace listings, showroom, or social media
• Has been introduced through our marketing or sales channels
If a private sale occurs with a buyer introduced through Squealing Pig Guitars during the consignment period, the agreed consignment commission will still be payable. This policy protects the time, marketing effort, and customer base invested into selling your instrument.
13. Optional YouTube Promotion
Squealing Pig Guitars operates an active YouTube channel with over 13,000 subscribers, where we regularly showcase guitars through demonstrations and reviews. As part of our consignment service, your guitar may be eligible to be featured in a dedicated video showcase.
This is an optional marketing service and may involve an additional promotional fee, which will be agreed in advance between both parties. YouTube showcases can significantly increase exposure and help attract buyers from our international audience.
14. Sale Commitment
Once Squealing Pig Guitars has agreed a sale with a buyer that meets or exceeds the agreed Reserve Price, the consignor is committed to completing the transaction. At this stage, the guitar cannot be withdrawn from sale by the consignor. This protects buyers who have committed to purchasing the instrument and ensures the integrity of the sales process. If a consignor attempts to withdraw the guitar after a sale has been agreed, Squealing Pig Guitars reserves the right to charge the full agreed commission that would have been payable had the sale completed.
