Returns & Refunds

At Squealing Pig Guitars, we want you to feel confident when purchasing from us. All guitars sold through mail order include a 14-day trial period, allowing you to evaluate the instrument and ensure it meets your expectations. Please read the conditions below carefully before initiating a return.

1. 14-Day Trial Period
 

If you purchase a guitar from Squealing Pig Guitars via mail order, you have 14 days from the date the parcel is signed for to evaluate its suitability. If the guitar does not meet your requirements, you may cancel the order and return it for a refund, subject to the conditions outlined below.

For the purpose of this policy, the term “guitar” includes any associated items supplied with it, such as:

• Hard case or gig bag

• Tags and documentation

• Manuals or spec sheets

• Warranty cards or registration documents

• Accessories such as straps, cables, or polishing cloths
   

2. Return Conditions
 

To qualify for a refund, the following conditions must be met:

1. Return Window

The guitar must be returned to Squealing Pig Guitars within 14 days of the delivery date (the date the parcel is signed for).

2. Return Authorisation
 

You must contact us before returning the guitar, either by phone or email. Returns sent without prior notification may not be accepted.

3. Condition of the Instrument
 

The customer has a statutory duty to take reasonable care of the guitar while it is in their possession. The guitar must be returned in the same condition in which it was supplied, including all original packaging and accessories where possible. Light play wear consistent with careful home evaluation is acceptable.

However, returns may be refused or deductions applied if the guitar shows signs of:

• Structural damage (cracks, breaks or repairs)

• Significant cosmetic damage beyond normal evaluation

• Excessive fret wear

• Missing accessories, paperwork or case

• Poor packaging resulting in return transit damage
   

4. Use During Trial Period
 

The 14-day trial period is intended only to allow the customer to inspect and evaluate the guitar within a home environment. The instrument must not be used for rehearsals, live performances, recording sessions, commercial use, or professional activities during this period. If there is evidence that the guitar has been used beyond reasonable home evaluation, Squealing Pig Guitars reserves the right to reduce the refund amount or refuse the return entirely.

5. Modification or Alteration
 

The guitar must be returned exactly as supplied. Returns may be refused or subject to deductions if the guitar has been:

• Modified or altered in any way

• Had parts removed, replaced, or swapped

• Had the setup significantly altered beyond normal tuning
   

This includes changes to pickups, electronics, hardware, or structural components, unless agreed in writing beforehand.
 

6. Missing Items
 

All guitars must be returned complete with any items originally supplied, including:

• Case or gig bag

• Documentation and certificates

• Tags or spec sheets

• Warranty cards or manuals

• Accessories supplied with the instrument
   

If items are missing or returned damaged, an appropriate deduction may be made from the refund amount.
 

7. Return Shipping
 

Unless the item is faulty or significantly not as described, return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer. We strongly recommend using a tracked and fully insured shipping service, as Squealing Pig Guitars cannot accept responsibility for items lost or damaged during the return journey. The guitar must be packaged securely, ideally using the original packaging. If original packaging is unavailable, it must be packed to an equivalent professional standard to prevent damage during transit. Original shipping costs are non-refundable, unless the guitar is faulty or significantly not as described.
 

8. Damaged or Faulty Goods
 

When your parcel arrives, please inspect the packaging carefully. If the packaging appears damaged in transit, please sign the carrier’s delivery documentation and add “Unchecked” after your signature. You should then inspect the guitar immediately. If the guitar is damaged or faulty, please contact us by phone and email within 24 hours of delivery so we can arrange collection and begin the appropriate insurance claim.

Where an item is confirmed to be faulty or damaged in transit, we will offer:

• A replacement (if available)

• A repair

• A full refund
   

9. Payment Processing Fees
 

Please note that payment processors such as Stripe and PayPal no longer refund their transaction fees when a payment is refunded. If you paid using Stripe (card payment) or PayPal, the associated merchant processing fee (typically 2–3%) will be deducted from the refund amount unless the guitar arrived faulty or significantly not as described. For this reason, we recommend bank transfer payments where possible.

10. Refund Processing

Refunds will be issued once the guitar has been received, inspected, and approved. Please allow 5–7 working days for the refund to be processed. Refunds can only be issued to the original payment method used to purchase the goods.
