  • Personal Thoughts

This is a particularly cool NAMM Limited Edition Custom Shop Strat, with a specification that mixes unmistakable late-’50s character with some very sensible modern touches. The Aged Daphne Blue finish works beautifully against the roasted maple neck, while the Journeyman Relic treatment gives it plenty of checking and wear without pushing into an excessively beaten-up appearance.

The neck is a major highlight. Fender used quarter-sawn roasted maple with a substantial ’57-style Soft V profile measuring .850" at the first fret and .990" at the twelfth. Pairing that with a 9.5" radius and 6105 frets makes it noticeably easier to play than a completely period-correct ’50s Strat while still retaining a strong vintage feel in the hand.

The full set of hand-wound ’57 Strat pickups keeps the sound rooted firmly in classic Fender territory, with plenty of clarity, glass and woody single-coil character. The RWRP middle pickup gives quieter in-between positions, while the Fat ’50s-style wiring adds a little more practicality to an otherwise very traditional setup.

The deep ’57 body contours, relic’d parchment guard and aged metalwork complete the look nicely. A very well-balanced Custom Shop build with a desirable limited-edition NAMM specification, premium roasted neck and just the right mix of vintage aesthetics and modern playability.

  • Condition Report

Mint condition beyond the intentional Fender Custom Shop Journeyman Relic treatment. The checking, finish wear, aged plastics and hardware patina are all part of the original factory ageing rather than subsequent damage. No noteworthy additional wear or issues to mention. Supplied with its original Fender Custom Shop tweed hardshell case, certificate of authenticity and Shop Floor Traveller.
