This is an absolutely spectacular Angel and one of those Tom Anderson builds where the finish does most of the talking. Bora Blue Surf runs across the flame maple top from lighter aqua and turquoise tones into a much deeper ocean blue, with the figuring remaining incredibly pronounced across the entire body. The white back, matching white headstock and exposed natural binding create a really clean contrast, while the maple fingerboard gives the whole guitar an unusually bright and contemporary appearance.
The specification underneath is equally impressive. The hollow alder body with flame maple top should give the guitar a little more openness and resonance than a conventional solid Angel, while the Even-Taper neck, 12"–14" compound radius and large stainless-steel frets make it very much a modern performance instrument. The .810" to .870" neck carve also keeps things relatively streamlined without becoming excessively thin.
The SSH pickup arrangement is particularly versatile, using SC1 single-coils in the neck and middle with an HC2+ humbucker at the bridge. Anderson’s switching adds further flexibility with neck-and-bridge combinations and coil splitting, allowing it to cover traditional single-coil territory as well as much thicker driven sounds. A genuinely high-end American build with exceptional figuring, a very distinctive custom finish and a superb all-round specification.
