The I-35 LC is one of Collings’ best modern semi-hollows in my opinion, because it takes the familiar double-cut semi idea and refines it without losing the warmth and midrange that make these guitars so addictive. The laminate construction and maple / spruce center block give it a slightly drier, woodier and more focused response than some semi-hollows, which is exactly part of the appeal of the LC models. I also think the Lollar Low Wind Imperials are a big plus here, as they tend to keep things open, articulate and dynamic rather than pushing the guitar too hard. Tobacco Sunburst always works beautifully on an I-35 as well, and if this one has nice flaming, that just lifts it further. A very classy, very serious semi-hollow that suits players who want vintage flavour but with a more precise and premium feel. Collings specifically describes the I-35 LC as having a drier, woodier, mid-forward tone, which fits this model very well.
Condition Report
Very good condition. Overall a fairly clean example, with the main point to note being some light surface blistering to the back of the neck. This is assumed to have come from wearing a ring, but importantly it cannot be felt whilst playing. Aside from that, it presents very well overall.
