This is a really cool BFR Albert Lee and one of the more unusual Music Man limited runs from recent years. The big talking point is obviously the HSS layout, because that was not a standard Albert Lee configuration and it makes this run feel much more distinctive than just a different finish on a familiar model. That extra bridge humbucker should give the guitar a lot more punch and range without losing the clarity and snap that makes the Albert Lee platform so good in the first place. The Seafoam Sparkle finish suits it brilliantly too, as it has that slightly retro, high-end custom colour feel that works perfectly with the shape. I also think the Okoume body and roasted maple neck and board is a really nice combination here, keeping the guitar light, resonant and very slick in the hand. Being a BFR run of just 59 pieces gives it proper exclusivity as well. A very smart limited Music Man and exactly the sort of guitar that feels collectible while still being a serious player’s instrument.
