The Lace Sensor Clapton Strats have their own following now, and rightly so. They are not just an earlier version of the current model — they really have a character of their own. The Gold Lace Sensors, TBX control and 25dB mid-boost give these a very distinctive voice, with a smoother, quieter and more compressed feel than a traditional vintage Strat, but with loads of thickness available when you wind the boost in. That is a huge part of why people still actively seek out the pre-2001 guitars. I also think the rest of the spec is spot on. The soft V maple neck, blocked trem and simple Torino Red finish make it feel very much in line with Clapton’s practical, no-nonsense Strat formula. An immaculate 2000 Lace Sensor example with case and paperwork is exactly the sort of thing collectors want, because it sits right at the end of the first-era run before Fender moved to Vintage Noiseless pickups in 2001.
Condition Report
Immaculate collector’s grade condition. Supplied with case and paperwork. An exceptionally clean Lace Sensor-era example that presents far better than most surviving guitars from this period.
