This is a really distinctive ’59 Custom Shop Strat and the Melon Candy finish is the obvious standout. It is much less conventional than the usual Sunburst, Black or Olympic White options, but still works beautifully with the dark AAA rosewood board and mint-green guard. The Journeyman ageing gives it enough wear and checking to feel properly broken-in without tipping into an exaggerated relic look.
The neck specification is particularly strong. A quarter-sawn maple neck, dark AAA rosewood flat-lam board, 9.5" radius and medium-jumbo 6150 frets make it much more practical than a completely period-correct ’59 Strat, while the ’59 D carve keeps plenty of vintage character. The fairly substantial taper gives the neck some real presence in the hand without feeling oversized.
The hand-wound Fat ’50s pickup set gives the guitar a fuller, sweeter take on the classic Strat voice, with plenty of clarity and sparkle but a little more body through the mids. The Vintage Modified Wiring #2 adds some extra usability while keeping the familiar Strat control layout.
A very cool Custom Shop example with an unusual factory colour, strong neck spec and a tasteful level of ageing — one that stands out visually without losing the essence of a vintage-inspired Strat.
Condition Report
Mint condition beyond the intentional Fender Custom Shop Journeyman Relic treatment. The checking, finish wear and aged hardware are all part of the original factory ageing rather than subsequent damage. No noteworthy additional wear or issues to mention. Supplied with its original Fender Custom Shop hardshell case, certificate of authenticity and Shop Floor Traveller.
