This is a really classy Custom Shop Strat and exactly the sort of spec that is hard not to like. Sonic Blue with a round-lam rosewood board is one of Fender’s best combinations, and on a relic Custom Shop build it always gives the guitar that perfect worn custom-colour look. The rest of the spec is very well judged too. The select alder body, quartersawn maple neck and hand-wound ’59 pickup set keeps it firmly in that sweet vintage Strat lane, while the 9.5" radius makes it a little easier to live with than a stricter vintage setup. I also like the fact this is a proper ’59-style recipe rather than something overly modernised, because it keeps all the character people actually want from a guitar like this. A very attractive and very usable Custom Shop Strat.
