Fender first launched its semi-hollow electric guitar in 1968, once again broadening its appeal to a diverse range of musicians with an innovative reinterpretation of the classic Telecaster®. The Thinline Telecaster features a lighter, more resonant body design, which enriches the overall tonal character with added warmth and color. Initially, the 1968 Telecaster Thinline was made available in natural ash or mahogany, showcasing a solid center and hollow wings, complete with an "F" hole on the upper bout.
The Vintage Custom 1968 Tele® Thinline showcases a semi-hollow mahogany body, elegantly finished in aged natural NOS lacquer. Its lightly tinted rift-sawn maple neck is designed with a '60s oval "C" profile and is complemented by a vintage compound-radius round-lam maple fingerboard that spans 7.25" to 9.5" and features 21 medium vintage frets. Equipped with hand-wound 1967 Telecaster pickups, the guitar offers three-way switching alongside modern Telecaster wiring. Additional highlights include a period-correct white pearloid pickguard, a '67 Telecaster bridge assembly, vintage-style "F" tuners, a bone nut, and wing string mounting.
