As a nod to those original era Stratocasters, the Fender Custom Shop have produced this stunning Ltd "64" Special Stratocaster. Built to the same specifications as a pre-CBS era 1964 Stratocaster - but with two differences: a flatter 9.5" fretboard radius, and black fret dots - and with a Relic aged "colour over colour" finish of Aztec Gold over Gold Sparkle, this limited edition Stratocaster helps recapture Fender's Golden Era in both looks, tone, and playability.
The body is made from premium Alder for big time tone. This guitar weighs in at a very comfy 7.5 pounds on my scale. The neck is a 63 C which is a tad thicker then your standard 60's necks, in addition we have a flamed Quartersawn neck with a 9.5 inch radius and 6105 narrow jumbo frets. Quite a mouthful but you'll love it when you play it! Custom Shop Hand/wound 64 pickups hooked to a 5 way switch and modern wiring. The finish is a Thin Skin nitrocellulose lacquer with a heavy relic treatment. Very cool vibe.

Condition Report: This strat sounds awesome and feels great. Light, resonant and full of tone. Nice midrange warmth with trademark strat spank. The pickups sound awesome and everything works as it should. The neck feels great and the jumbo frets make bends a breeze. An excellent example of the breed and a great example of the Custom Shop's best work. Very cool relic job with all of the dents, dings and finish wear of a prized vintage piece. Comes in original Custom Shop case with cert and case candy.
