The Hot Rod ’57 Strats are a really smart blend of old and new, and that is exactly why they have such a loyal following. You still get the visual appeal and feel of a proper vintage-inspired Strat, but Fender added just enough modern thinking to make them far easier to live with. The modified soft V neck is a big part of that, as it keeps the ’50s flavour without becoming too much of a handful, and the gloss board with satin back is a genuinely great idea. I also really like the pickup setup on these. The SCNs in the neck and middle keep things clear and quiet, while the Tone Zone in the bridge gives the guitar a lot more authority and punch than a standard vintage Strat bridge pickup. That makes these much more versatile than the average reissue. Candy Apple Red is a great colour for one too, as it gives the guitar a really classic Fender look with just a bit more presence. A very cool USA Strat and one of the better modern-vintage blends Fender produced.
