This is a really classy Masterbuilt Strat and exactly the sort of spec that makes sense on a Jason Smith build. Daphne Blue and maple is always a brilliant combination, and with the Heavy Relic treatment it gives the guitar that properly worn custom-colour look without losing any of the elegance that makes the finish so appealing in the first place. The rest of the spec is very well judged too. The select ash body, quartersawn maple neck and hand-wound ’50s pickup set keeps it firmly in that lively, snappy early Strat lane, while the compound radius makes it a bit easier to live with than a more strictly vintage setup. I also like the Soft V neck here, because that sort of carve really suits a ’50s Strat and adds a lot to the playing experience when it is done properly. A very desirable Masterbuilt Custom Shop Strat and a strong example of why Jason Smith pieces are so sought after.

Excellent condition. Factory Heavy Relic finish as part of the original Masterbuilt spec. Aside from the intentional ageing, it presents very cleanly overall with only light signs of genuine handling and use.
