This is a very cool Masterbuilt Strat and one that feels a bit more interesting than the usual safe Custom Shop colour choices. The Irish Pub Green finish really gives it its own identity, especially with the heavy relic treatment and mint green guard, which together give it a properly worn-in, smoky-club sort of vibe. Spec-wise it is strong across the board. The ash body should keep things lively and snappy, while the quartersawn maple neck and AAAA flat-lam rosewood board give it a premium feel without losing that authentic early-’60s flavour. I also like the choice of jumbo 6100 frets and 9.5" radius here, because it makes the guitar much more practical for modern players while still looking vintage correct at a glance. The handwound ’60/’63 pickup set is a great fit too — those sets tend to have plenty of chime and clarity, but with enough warmth and mid character to stop things sounding thin. Being an Andy Hicks Masterbuilt just adds another level of desirability, and the fact this was done as a limited Fall Event piece makes it feel that bit more special again.
Condition Report
Excellent condition. Factory heavy relic ageing is correct as part of the original Masterbuilt spec. Aside from the intentional ageing, it presents very well overall with only light signs of handling and use.
