Personal Thoughts:
Dale Wilson Masterbuilt Strats are already held in very high regard — but this one has something extra. The Copper over Taos Turquoise finish is pure Custom Shop theatre in the best possible way. Subtle shifts in light reveal layers of colour, wear, and depth that feel genuinely organic rather than forced. It’s bold, but still unmistakably Fender.
Tonally, this is exactly what a great late-’50s inspired Strat should be. The alder body and rift-sawn maple neck give it a fast, resonant acoustic response, while the handwound JCE Custom pickups deliver exceptional balance — open lows, articulate mids, and a glassy top end without harshness. The middle position has that unmistakable hollow “quack”, while the neck is warm and vocal and the bridge retains bite without ice-pick fatigue.
The ’65 “C” profile sits beautifully in the hand — substantial enough to feel vintage-correct, but never cumbersome. Combined with the 9.5" radius and 6105 frets, it’s a Strat that plays effortlessly while still feeling authentically old-school.
This is a serious Masterbuilt Strat — equal parts collector piece and professional instrument.
Condition Report:
Excellent condition. No issues or damage beyond the factory Heavy Relic work. Frets show minimal use, hardware is clean, and the guitar has been extremely well cared for. Original Custom Shop case, Certificate of Authenticity, Floor Traveler, and case candy included.
