This is exactly the sort of vintage Jazzmaster people hope to find but rarely do. A clean, original 1961 example is desirable enough on its own, but when you add the original hard case, paperwork and accompanying parts, it becomes a much more complete and appealing package. Spec-wise, this sits in a really sweet spot too. A 1961 Jazzmaster gives you the slab rosewood board and clay dots that so many buyers want, along with all the classic early-Jazzmaster features that make these feel especially collectible. I also think the original sunburst finish suits the model perfectly, and on a really clean one like this it just has that unmistakable early-Fender class about it. These guitars have a very particular voice as well — wide, airy and warm, but still articulate — and when you find an original one that has been looked after this well, it tends to feel that bit more serious as both a player’s piece and a collector’s piece.
Condition Report
Extremely clean original condition. A beautifully preserved 1961 example with original hard case, paperwork and parts. Presents far cleaner than most surviving examples from this period and remains an especially attractive collector-grade vintage guitar.
