This is a seriously desirable late-’60s Tele and a very cool example of a genuine factory Bigsby model. The combination of Olympic White, maple cap neck and factory-installed B5 already makes it stand out, but the overall originality here is what really gives it weight. It has all the right CBS-era features and transitional details that make these guitars so interesting, especially that maple cap with skunk stripe combination which is only seen in a relatively narrow period. The Bigsby adds a lot of charm too, giving the guitar a smoother, slightly more elastic feel than a standard Tele while still keeping that unmistakable Fender clarity and attack.
It is also a nice balance of collector appeal and usability. The recent refret and vintage bone nut mean it has had the sort of work that actually makes sense on a guitar like this, improving the playing experience without losing the original parts, which are still included. That makes it much easier to enjoy as a real player while still keeping the guitar honest and desirable. A very attractive, very collectible vintage Fender with a lot going for it.
Condition Report
Excellent condition. Recently refretted and fitted with a new vintage bone nut by a top luthier in Manchester. Original nut and original frets are included. Aside from this work, the guitar retains its original finish, hardware, pickups and electronics, and presents very cleanly overall with only light natural ageing and checking.
