Personal Thoughts:
This one’s a total sleeper. If you're after classic Leo Fender DNA with modern tweaks and boutique-level specs, the ASAT Special nails it—especially in this rare custom-ordered Light-Burst finish on Okoume. The no-pickguard look feels super clean and gives you more of that high-end boutique Tele vibe. The standard large MFD in the neck gives all the clean sparkle and warmth you could want, while the custom Super MFD in the bridge adds grunt and edge for rock and gain-heavy tones. It’s punchy, articulate, and extremely responsive to playing dynamics.
Okoume as a tonewood is underappreciated—lighter than mahogany but with that same warm, mid-focused resonance. Combine that with the lightweight body, Plek’d frets, and Leo’s unique MFD voicing, and you've got an instrument that not only feels like a custom shop build but sounds like one too.
