The '57 Goldtop is one of those Les Pauls that rarely goes out of style, and the darkback always makes them that bit more appealing in my opinion. It just gives the guitar a richer, more vintage-correct look than the standard natural-back style and suits a Goldtop perfectly. The spec is exactly what you want as well. The all-mahogany body with maple top, chunky rounded '50s neck, long tenon and ABR-1 setup keeps it firmly in that classic late-'50s Les Paul lane, and the Burstbucker set tends to suit these guitars really well by giving them plenty of warmth, bite and openness without feeling too modern. I also think 2009 sits in a good period for these, as they still feel like proper solid Historic-era Custom Shop guitars with loads of traditional appeal. A very handsome reissue, and the darkback just gives it that extra bit of class.

Excellent condition. There is some nitro checking in places, including around the tone knob area, along with light signs of use consistent with age. Overall it presents very well and remains a very attractive example.
