This 2011 R9 is an absolute stunner. The Cherry Sunburst finish looks ace, vintage-softened hue that you occasionally see on certain earlier bursts — and it gives this example a much more authentic look than many brighter modern cherry finishes. The flame is exceptional — strong, three-dimensional, and incredibly lively across the top.Tonally, this era of R9s is known for being warm, resonant, and hugely dynamic. The Burstbucker pickups offer a beautiful blend of sweetness, harmonic lift, and vintage-style bite — a very organic, responsive PAF flavour. Notes bloom and sustain effortlessly.
The 2011 Historic builds are widely respected — pre-2013 spec-change, but already with better wood selection and lighter weight as Gibson moved deeper into Historic accuracy. Combine that with a great top and a near-faded cherry burst, and this is one of those R9s that ticks every box visually and sonically.
Condition Report:
