This is one of those R9s that truly jumps out at you the second you open the case. The flame on this top is no subtle ripple—it’s a deep, three-dimensional tiger stripe that shifts and dances in the light. A proper “thick flame” top that lives up to the high standards collectors and tone chasers expect from the Gibson Custom Shop’s golden era.

Tonally, it delivers exactly what you’d want from a ’59 reissue: thick, singing sustain with rich mids and blooming harmonics. The Aged Cherry Burst brings out the grain beautifully, and the neck is a perfect fit—chunky but never clumsy.
