This is one of those rare moments where tradition meets pure showmanship.
A true ’64 spec ES-335 — block inlays, correct carve, proper neck profile — but finished in an outrageous Sunburst Sparkle that simply shouldn’t work… yet absolutely does. It feels like a custom order Gibson might have built for a late-’60s Vegas stage player, but executed with modern Custom Shop precision.
Being a genuine 1 of 1 Dealer Select makes this especially interesting. Gibson occasionally experiment with finishes, but very rarely on a fully correct vintage reissue platform like this. The sparkle sits beautifully within the burst, giving it depth without looking gimmicky.
Tonally, you’re getting everything you expect from a great ’64 335 — woody attack, open midrange, sweet top end and that singing sustain that only a proper centre block ES can deliver. It will cover blues, rock, fusion and beyond without breaking a sweat.
It’s collectible, it’s playable, and you are extremely unlikely to ever see another one.
