This is one of the most significant artist Les Pauls Gibson Custom has produced and a particularly desirable example in the Aged & Signed specification. The Beano Les Paul has an almost mythical place in electric guitar history thanks to Eric Clapton’s work with John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, where the combination of a late-’50s/early-’60s Burst and a cranked Marshall helped define the template for British blues-rock guitar tone.

This #032 example has all the visual hallmarks you would want from the model: a beautifully figured maple top, heavily faded Antiquity Burst colouring, vintage-style plastics and convincing ageing throughout. The result has the look of a genuinely old Burst rather than a modern high-gloss recreation, with the subtle fade and worn hardware giving it a much more authentic presence.

The supplied provenance notes that Gibson’s recreation was informed by a remarkably clean original 1960 Les Paul associated with Clapton later in his life, rather than the long-lost original Beano guitar itself. That distinction is important historically, but it does nothing to diminish the appeal of the model: the project was intended to reproduce the visual and tonal character of the legendary guitar as closely as possible using the best reference material available.

The Aged & Signed examples sit at the top of the Beano hierarchy, and #032 is accompanied by its original Eric Clapton certificate, case candy, packing documentation and tags. For a serious Clapton, Gibson Custom or vintage Les Paul collector, this is a genuinely special piece with both musical and historical significance.
