Personal Thoughts:
The Historic ’59 Reissue remains the benchmark for modern Gibson Custom Shop Les Pauls, and this 2021 Lemon Burst is a very strong example from a consistently solid period. The Lemon finish is one of Gibson’s most convincing burst colours — understated, vintage-correct, and never overly bright — allowing the maple top to speak without feeling forced or flashy.
Tonally, this guitar delivers exactly what you expect from a great R9: open mids, airy highs, and a warm, woody low end that blooms beautifully when pushed. The Custombuckers are dynamic and touch-sensitive, excelling at everything from articulate clean tones to rich, harmonically complex drive sounds.
The ’59 neck profile feels substantial without being cumbersome — a classic shape that encourages relaxed playing and contributes heavily to the guitar’s resonance and sustain. This is a Les Paul that feels alive in the hands.
A superb all-round R9 that balances authenticity, playability, and tone — equally appealing to players and collectors.
Condition Report:
Excellent condition overall. There are a couple of small impressions either side of the headstock, consistent with a guitar stand. These are purely cosmetic and do not affect playability or structural integrity. Aside from this, the guitar presents extremely well, with clean frets, hardware, and finish. Original case and Certificate of Authenticity included.
