Personal Thoughts:
This is one of those deep-cut Gibson Custom Shop releases that quietly flew under the radar — and that’s exactly what makes it so appealing now. The 1975 Les Paul Deluxe Tribute captures a very specific era of Gibson history, when Deluxes ruled stages and studios with their unmistakable mini-humbucker bite.
The Basalt Blue Sparkle finish is the real headline here — bold, unapologetically ’70s, and executed beautifully by the Custom Shop. It’s flashy without being gaudy, and far rarer than the usual Goldtops or Sunbursts associated with the Deluxe name.
Tonally, this does exactly what a great Deluxe should. The mini-humbuckers deliver focused mids, tight low end, and a cutting top that sits brilliantly in a mix. Cleaner tones have clarity and chime, while gain brings out that classic snarling Deluxe grind — articulate, punchy, and unmistakably different from full-size PAF-style pickups.
With only 75 made worldwide, this is firmly in collector territory, but it’s also a genuinely usable, inspiring guitar that rewards players who appreciate something a little off the beaten path.
