Personal Thoughts:
This is one of those guitars that immediately stops you in your tracks. A ’56 Les Paul Standard paired with a Pink Sparkle finish is already a bold statement — but executed through the Murphy Lab Ultra Light Aged process, it somehow manages to feel both outrageous and tasteful.
The Ultra Light ageing keeps the sparkle finish intact and vibrant, while adding just enough checking and softening to take the edge off the newness. It feels broken-in without losing any of the visual impact. Under stage lights, this thing absolutely comes alive.
Tonally, the P-90–equipped ’56 Standard is a monster. You get fat, articulate cleans with plenty of midrange authority, and when pushed it delivers raw, gritty grind with incredible touch sensitivity. It’s a very immediate, expressive guitar — less polite than a humbucker R9, but endlessly rewarding.
This is a modern Custom Shop classic with serious personality.
