This is exactly the sort of special run Les Paul that feels properly exciting, because it combines a very desirable '59 platform with a finish that really stands out from the usual burst crowd. Ocean Magenta is a brilliant colour for something like this. It still lets the handpicked AAA figured maple top do the talking, but it gives the guitar a much more distinctive identity than a more traditional sunburst. The rest of the spec is equally strong. The lightweight one-piece mahogany body, long tenon neck joint, hide glue construction, Carmelita neck carve, Custombucker Alnico 3 set and no-wire ABR-1 all point towards a very serious historic-style build. I also think the Murphy Lab Light Aged treatment suits a guitar like this perfectly, as it gives it that slightly broken-in, more organic look without overwhelming such a striking finish. A really appealing Greatest Hits II example and one that feels both collectible and properly useable.
