Personal Thoughts
Murphy Lab Les Pauls have quickly become some of the most convincing vintage-style reissues Gibson have ever produced.
The Tomato Burst finish is a really striking variation of the classic ’60 burst — slightly richer in the reds with a beautiful transition into the darker outer burst. Combined with the Murphy Lab heavy ageing, it has that properly broken-in vintage look straight out of the case.
The heavy ageing also extends to the feel of the neck and hardware, giving it that played-in character that normally takes decades to develop.
Tonally this is classic ’60 Les Paul territory. The Custombuckers are open and dynamic with loads of clarity, delivering that unmistakable PAF-style warmth and bite. Clean tones are woody and articulate, while pushing an amp gives you that thick, singing sustain Les Pauls are known for.
The slimmer ’60 neck profile makes it particularly comfortable for players who prefer something a little faster in the hand compared to the chunkier ’59 carves.
A fantastic example of Gibson’s Murphy Lab work — vintage vibe, modern reliability and a proper player’s Les Paul.
Condition Report
Excellent condition. Factory Murphy Lab heavy ageing with only minimal signs of additional use beyond the intended relic work. Frets are excellent, neck is straight and electronics function perfectly.
Complete with original Gibson Custom Shop Lifton case and paperwork.
