Personal Thoughts

This Murphy Lab '60 Les Paul Reissue in Tomato Burst is an absolute beauty with some of the most tasteful relicing I’ve seen. The Ultra Light Aged treatment gives it just enough vintage character without overdoing it—subtle finish checking and hardware aging really sell the illusion of a well-loved classic.

The Tomato Burst finish is a standout—it’s named for its distinct red-to-light fade that mimics the rich, ripened hues of a tomato. Unlike more traditional cherry or tobacco bursts, Tomato Burst has a softer, almost organic gradient that feels both unique and period-correct. It’s the kind of finish that grabs attention without screaming for it.

The slim taper '60 neck profile is buttery smooth, ideal for fast runs and intricate playing while still feeling substantial enough for rhythm work. The Custombuckers deliver classic PAF tones, with a mix of clarity, warmth, and bite that fits perfectly into just about any genre.

This one was originally purchased from Guitar Village, has had one careful owner, and is exceptionally clean, with hardly any discernible playwear—testament to how well it’s been cared for.

Condition Report

This guitar is in near-mint condition, with all wear being the result of the Murphy Lab relicing process. The frets, hardware, and electronics are pristine, and it plays and sounds as good as it looks.

Final Thoughts

The Tomato Burst finish, earlier Murphy Lab relicing, and overall quality make this Les Paul a real standout. The finish is as much a conversation piece as it is a visual treat, and combined with its killer playability and tone, this is a Les Paul that ticks all the boxes. Perfect for players or collectors looking for something a little different but entirely classic.
