This is one of the coolest Les Paul Customs Gibson are doing at the moment. The '68 Custom formula already has a slightly different feel from the earlier '50s Customs, thanks to the maple top and two-humbucker layout, and that usually gives these a bit more bite and attack without losing the weight and authority you want from a proper Custom. The spec is strong all the way through as well: ebony board, block inlays, gold hardware, waffleback tuners and the pair of 68 Custom humbuckers all keep it rooted in that late-'60s Custom identity. I also think the Murphy Lab Ultra Light Aged treatment works especially well on a black Les Paul Custom, because it gives it a slightly broken-in, less sterile look without taking away the classy “Black Beauty” appeal. A very desirable Custom Shop piece and a really elegant take on a golden-era Les Paul Custom. Gibson specifically notes that the 1968 Custom differed from the earlier all-mahogany Customs by using a maple top on a mahogany back, dual humbuckers, and a 14-degree peghead angle, which is a big part of why these have their own personality.

As new condition. Murphy Lab Ultra Light ageing is factory correct as part of the original spec. No additional wear of note beyond the intentional factory treatment.
