This is one of the most significant Slash Les Pauls Gibson Custom has produced and an exceptionally desirable example within the already scarce Aged & Signed AFD run. Built as a painstaking recreation of the Les Paul associated with the recording of Appetite for Destruction, these guitars reproduce the look, feel and specification of the instrument behind some of Guns N’ Roses’ most recognisable recordings, including “Sweet Child O’ Mine”, “Welcome to the Jungle”, “Paradise City” and “Mr. Brownstone”.

This particular guitar carries the exceptionally low #4 serial, with the information supplied indicating that it was the second-lowest numbered example made available to the public through Guitar Center; #1 was retained by Slash and #2 went to a senior Gibson executive. That provenance makes #4 considerably more interesting than an already collectible standard-numbered example.

The ageing is a huge part of the appeal. Gibson reproduced the wear patterns and visual character of Slash’s original instrument across the figured maple top, with the faded Butterscotch colouring, aged hardware and amber reflector knobs creating one of the most recognisable modern Les Paul recreations. The zebra Seymour Duncan Slash Alnico II Pro humbuckers complete the package, delivering the warm upper-midrange, fluid sustain and open attack so closely associated with his classic recorded tone.

With only 100 Aged & Signed guitars produced, surviving examples are seldom encountered, and an ultra-low-number guitar such as #4 sits at the particularly collectible end of the run. A major piece for a serious Slash, Guns N’ Roses or Gibson Custom collector.

Exceptional collector’s condition - Never played, kept in case by its original owner. The extensive checking, impressions, wear and ageing visible across the guitar are intentional features of Gibson Custom’s original Aged specification and faithfully recreate the appearance of Slash’s original instrument rather than representing subsequent damage. The guitar has been exceptionally well preserved and is accompanied by its original case, hangtags and associated collector’s documentation.
