This is a superb collector-grade example of the Slash AFD Les Paul and a particularly appealing one for anyone looking for an untouched VOS example rather than the much more heavily aged signed version. The Aged Butterscotch finish, figured maple top, amber reflector knobs and zebra Seymour Duncan pickups recreate the familiar look of the guitar associated with the Appetite For Destruction era incredibly well.
The specification is pure Slash: mahogany body and neck, rosewood fingerboard, traditional ABR-1 and stopbar setup, and a pair of Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro Slash humbuckers. The result is the warm, vocal midrange and fluid sustain that define the model, with enough clarity and dynamic response to keep it from feeling overly compressed or dark.
What really sets this #284 apart is the condition. It has been preserved in genuinely brand-new collector’s condition, with no meaningful playwear and even the switch tip remaining unused. Examples this untouched are increasingly hard to find, particularly with all the original accessories and documentation still present.
For a serious Slash or Gibson collector, this is exactly the sort of example to look for: original, complete, extremely clean and preserved rather than simply well cared for.
