Personal Thoughts:
The 2013–2018 Standard Historic era is now recognised as a particularly strong period for Gibson Custom Shop accuracy — and this ’59 VOS in Lemon Burst is a perfect example of why. The Maple tops from this window often have that soft, vintage-correct look that feels more like an old LP than a modern flame showpiece — and the Lemon tone is one of the most “real” bursts Gibson do.
Tonally — woody mids, open top end, and that chewy, dynamic response that makes the Custombucker set so highly respected. This one sings with gain and sparkles when clean.
It’s a classy, non-hyped, extremely musical ’59 R9.
Condition Report:
Excellent. Light signs of handling only — nothing of note. Frets and hardware remain clean. Case & COA present.
