Personal Thoughts:
The 2013–2018 Standard Historic era is now widely considered a golden period for modern Gibson Custom Shop Les Pauls — before the Murphy Lab division existed, but after the R&D jump in construction accuracy. These ’59 VOS Reissues from that window have an unmistakably musical feel: woody mids, open top-end, and sustain that feels like the guitar is breathing with you.
Sunrise Tea Burst is one of the most flattering finishes Gibson ever did — warm, subtle fade, with a vintage-correct softness in the way the burst rolls off. It has that “late ‘50s been under stage lights its whole life” vibe.
Custombuckers here do exactly what they should — PAF-style clarity, clean articulation, strong mid presence without harshness.
This is a classy, non-hyped example of a seriously good Historic.
Condition Report:
Excellent. Very clean throughout with only some very minor lacquer crazing in places — subtle, and in keeping with nitro ageing. No buckle rash, no major marks. Case, COA & paperwork present.
