Personal Thoughts:
The ES-339 is the perfect halfway point between a Les Paul and a 335 — all the semi-hollow air, midrange openness and harmonic depth of a 335, just in a more compact and lightweight format. The Figured Sixties Cherry finish on this one really elevates it — deep red, great maple figure, and that classic late-60s Gibson vibe.
Tonally, this particular model has a beautiful balance: warm lows, chiming cleans, and a very smooth top end that loves overdrive. It’s a brilliant session guitar — jazz, blues, pop, soul, indie, classic rock — it sits perfectly in a mix.
If you’ve always loved 335 tone but prefer the comfort factor of a smaller, tighter body shape, this is the sweet spot.
