The mid-’90s Les Paul Standards have a solid following for good reason. They sit in that nice period where they still feel like proper no-nonsense USA Gibsons, and when they have been played they often have a bit more character than a cleaner case queen example. Ebony is always a great finish on a Les Paul Standard too, because it gives the guitar a straightforward, classic look that really suits the model. The maple-on-mahogany construction and humbucker setup is of course the familiar recipe people want here, giving you that thick, punchy and sustaining Les Paul sound without overcomplicating things. A good honest player’s grade Standard can make a lot of sense for someone who wants the feel and sound of a proper USA Les Paul without paying for collector-level condition.
Condition Report:
Player’s grade condition. There is finish wear, impressions, nitro checking and general signs of use throughout. This is an honest played-in example rather than a collector’s piece, but all of that adds up to a guitar with plenty of character.
