This is an absolutely stunning ES-335 and the figured top is easily the standout feature. The Aquamarine finish really exaggerates the movement in the maple, with the figuring changing dramatically depending on the light. It is one of those 335s that looks much more exotic than the traditional Cherry or Sunburst examples while still retaining the classic Gibson semi-hollow shape and appointments.

The specification is strong underneath the cosmetics too. The figured maple/poplar/maple body is paired with a maple centre block and Adirondack spruce bracing, giving the guitar the familiar blend of semi-hollow resonance, sustain and note definition. The C-shaped mahogany neck and rolled fingerboard binding make it particularly comfortable to play, while the rosewood board keeps the overall feel traditional.

The MHS humbuckers are a great match for this platform, delivering a warm, open vintage-style response with plenty of clarity and dynamic range. The hand-wired loom, 550K pots and Orange Drop capacitors give plenty of control over the pickups, while the ABR-1 with titanium saddles adds a little extra definition and immediacy.

A superb Memphis-era ES-335 with an unusually dramatic top and one of the best-looking Aquamarine finishes we’ve seen.

Mint condition. Presents exceptionally well overall with no noteworthy marks, fret wear or signs of use to mention. The Aquamarine finish and highly figured maple remain exceptionally clean, with the guitar presenting beautifully throughout. Supplied with its original Gibson hardshell case and associated documentation.
