This is a seriously cool modern Gibson and one that feels a lot more purposeful than a lot of artist models. Rather than just putting Dave Mustaine’s name on a standard Flying V, Gibson gave this one a proper spec shift to suit the sort of playing it is meant for. The 25.5" scale, 24-fret ebony board, compound radius and Thrash Factor pickup set all point firmly in that direction, giving it a faster, tighter, more aggressive feel than a traditional Flying V. I also think the Alien Tech Green finish is a big part of the appeal, because it suits the whole Rust in Peace theme perfectly and gives the guitar a much stronger identity than a safer finish ever would. The 1 of 100 aspect is worth calling out too, as these limited green examples are far scarcer than the regular production colours and that definitely adds to the desirability for Mustaine and Megadeth collectors. Gibson’s official spec confirms the mahogany body and neck, ebony board, compound radius, 24 medium jumbo frets, black chrome hardware, and Dave Mustaine signature Seymour Duncan Thrash Factor pickup set, while dealer listings for the Alien Tech Green run describe that finish as a 100-piece limited edition.
