This is a lovely late Kalamazoo-built ES-335 with plenty of genuine vintage character. The Walnut finish gives it a warm, understated appearance that feels unmistakably late ’70s and early ’80s, while the dark ebony fingerboard adds a classy contrast and a slightly more distinctive look than the more commonly encountered rosewood-board examples.

The semi-hollow construction provides the familiar blend of warmth, resonance and controlled sustain that has made the ES-335 one of Gibson’s most versatile designs. The original humbuckers should cover everything from rounded jazz and blues tones through to articulate classic-rock sounds, with the centre block helping to keep the guitar focused and manageable at higher volumes.

Importantly, the guitar remains all original and was produced at Gibson’s historic Kalamazoo plant. It has also recently benefited from a fret level and complete professional setup, leaving it ready to be enjoyed rather than simply displayed. A clean and honest vintage ES-335 with strong originality and plenty of practical appeal.

Very good vintage condition. There are minor impressions, scratches and general playwear consistent with its age, along with a small number of sympathetic cosmetic touch-ups in certain areas. The guitar remains notably clean overall for a 1980 instrument.

It has recently benefited from a fret level and full professional setup. All parts are understood to be original. Supplied with its original Gibson hardshell case; the exterior Tolex covering has been removed.
