This is a really smart modern Jet and a great example of Gretsch updating a classic design without losing what makes it appealing in the first place. The chambered mahogany body and maple top are a big part of that, as they should give it a thicker, richer midrange than people sometimes expect from a Gretsch, while still keeping plenty of snap and openness. The Broad'Tron BT-65 set suits the concept well too, pushing it a bit further into punchier, more versatile territory than a more traditional Filter'Tron setup. I also think the Players Edition upgrades are a huge part of the appeal here. The locking Gotoh tuners, anchored Adjusto-Matic bridge and V-stoptail make it feel like a much more practical everyday guitar, while the rosewood board and block inlays keep the look properly classy. Black Cherry Metallic is a great finish on this model as well, giving it that slightly richer, dressier feel than plain black. A very usable, very handsome MIJ Gretsch.
