The early-2000s J Customs are some of the nicest high-performance Ibanez guitars out there, and the RG8670 is a brilliant example of why they have such a strong following. The mahogany body with flame maple top gives it a slightly richer, more premium feel than a standard RG, while the 5-piece maple and bubinga neck, ebony board and Tree of Life inlay makes it feel unmistakably J Custom. Deep Red is a great finish on this model too, as it really suits the flame top and the violet chrome hardware gives it that slightly more exotic look these higher-end Japanese Ibanez models do so well. The original Air Norton / Blue Velvet / Tone Zone recipe is a strong one, but fitted with the two aftermarket red DiMarzio humbuckers this one will have an even more individual look and likely a slightly different voice as well. A very classy MIJ superstrat and one of the more desirable J Custom-era RGs.
Condition Report
Very clean overall. There is a tiny chip on the bottom rear binding, but importantly there is no buckle rash and no neck cracks present. The guitar is fitted with two aftermarket red DiMarzio humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions. Overall it remains a very tidy and very well-kept example.
