The early JEMs are some of the most iconic signature guitars ever made, and the Desert Yellow version is right up there as one of the most recognisable. By this point the JEM formula was already fully established, so you get all the features people really want from an early example: basswood body, slim maple neck, rosewood board, Tree of Life inlay, HSH DiMarzio setup and the Edge trem. The combination still works brilliantly now. The PAF Pros and JEM singlecoil give the guitar loads of versatility, and the switching layout is a huge part of why these guitars became so successful in the first place, covering everything from fluid lead tones through to those dry, nasal in-between sounds Vai used so well. The scalloping from the 21st fret upwards is another great touch and adds even more to the whole over-the-top late-'80s / early-'90s JEM appeal. A very cool and very collectible MIJ JEM.
Condition Report
Very good condition. There is a small nick near the pickguard, neck pocket cracking, a few small impressions throughout, and the headstock decal is faded and scratched. The finish has faded somewhat over time. The frets remain in very good condition overall, and it comes with an Ibanez case.
