The JEM77-FP is one of the most iconic Steve Vai models ever made and still one of the most instantly recognisable guitars Ibanez has ever produced. The floral pattern finish is obviously the headline feature, but the spec underneath is what made these such great guitars in the first place. Basswood body, one-piece maple neck, rosewood board, Lo-Pro Edge trem and 24 Dunlop 6100 frets is classic early-'90s high-performance Ibanez in exactly the way people want it. I also think the fluorescent green vine inlay, clear guard and pink knobs are a huge part of why these still feel so special — they are unapologetically over-the-top, but they work. The 1991 onward move to the Lo-Pro Edge is a plus as well, as those bridges are very highly regarded and suit a guitar like this perfectly. A very cool early JEM and one that still feels every bit as wild and exciting today.
Condition Report
Very good condition. There is a small nick to the top horn, a little buckle rash, a few small impressions around the edges, and the usual neck pocket crack is present. The front presents very cleanly overall and the headstock is also very tidy, which always makes a big difference on a floral pattern JEM.
