This is a seriously cool J.Custom and one of the more distinctive modern RGs Ibanez has done in recent years. The Black Quartz finish is the obvious headline feature, and it gives the guitar a much more refined, high-end look than a standard flat black or burst ever could. The spec underneath is properly strong too. The one-piece ash body should give it a really immediate, punchy response, while the maple and wenge Super Wizard neck keeps everything fast, stable and unmistakably Ibanez. I also really like the choice of pickups here. The Air Norton and The Tone Zone pairing is a classic high-performance DiMarzio set and suits a guitar like this perfectly, giving it warmth and fluidity in the neck position with plenty of output and muscle from the bridge. Add in the Lo-Pro Edge, Tree of Life inlay, Luminlay side dots and gold hardware and it ends up feeling like exactly what a J.Custom should be — an RG taken to a much more premium and collectible place. The model itself is documented by Ibanez sources as a Japan-only J.Custom introduced in 2022, while dealer listings for this finish describe it as an approximately 24-piece limited spot model.
