Personal Thoughts:
The PRS 513 Rosewood is one of Paul Reed Smith’s most sophisticated and sonically versatile designs — a model that bridges the gap between vintage character and modern flexibility. Produced in limited numbers between 2004 and 2007, this early solid rosewood-neck edition is particularly sought after for its luxurious feel and resonant tone.
The solid rosewood neck and fingerboard add warmth, sustain, and a refined smoothness to every note, giving the guitar a deep, piano-like clarity that few tonewoods can match. The 513 pickup system offers 13 distinct tones via five specially designed single-coil-sized pickups and a three-mode voicing switch — from shimmering single-coil sparkle to full, articulate humbucker power.
The Cherry Sunburst finish over a carved figured maple top is classic PRS elegance — bold yet timeless. Combined with the natural rosewood neck, it gives the instrument both visual and tonal sophistication.
As one of PRS’s most technically advanced guitars of its era, this 513 represents a milestone in the brand’s pursuit of tonal innovation and build excellence. The early solid rosewood-neck versions are especially collectible today, prized for their tone, craftsmanship, and rarity.
Condition Report:
Mint condition. No playwear, marks, or fret wear. Hardware and finish are immaculate. Supplied with the original PRS hard case, trem arm, and documentation.
Collector’s Note:
The Rosewood 513s (2004–2007) were a short-lived premium variant that predated the 513 Maple Top core models. The use of a solid rosewood neck and board was discontinued due to cost and scarcity, making these early examples increasingly rare and desirable among PRS collectors.
